New Qualsafe FREC 3 Syllabus Goes Live at ECS including optional elements
We are excited to announce that from October 2025 we will be offering the new and improved Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (FREC3) (RQF) programme which has been updated to better prepare FREC 3 providers for operational practice.
This regulated and nationally recognised qualification is the first step of a progressive suite of prehospital care qualifications, and is recommended for those looking to work or volunteer as a first responder. Among the first to arrive at a scene, first responders typically include police officers, firefighters, emergency medical services and search and rescue personnel.
FREC 3 is also an ideal qualification for those providing event medical cover or roles such as door supervisors, close protection operatives and security guards, as well as those working in high-risk environments including the military, power stations, offshore renewable energy, agriculture and manufacturing settings.
In addition, ECS has been approved as a centre to offer teaching of, and assessment in, the optional elements that Qualsafe have added to the FREC 3 syllabus, supporting learners in achieving a qualification that will align with their organisation’s scope of practice. This includes:
- Use of Supraglottic Airway Devices
- Administration of Inhaled analgesia (Nitrous Oxide/ Penthrox)
- Administration of Naloxone
- Blood Glucose Measurement
As always, the course will be delivered in our excellent teaching facilities by highly skilled trainers who have extensive experience of pre-hospital and emergency response settings.
