Major Incident Medical Management and Support
The ALSG Major Incident Medical Management and Support (MIMMS) course is designed to develop knowledge and skills relating to major incident planning and the structured, systematic response approach required for the medical management of major incidents.
As the only international standard in major incident medical management, the course is taught and principles practiced throughout the world, being integrated into civilian and military medical practice.
The 2-day course is delivered face-to-face and combines both theoretical and practical teaching sessions, and includes the opportunity to attend a large site as part of an exercise on the final day.
Course Content
The MIMMS course develops knowledge and skills relating to:
– Understanding the organisations, structures and roles in managing major incidents and how they work together
– Preparing for and implementation of a structured approach when responding to major incidents (CSCATTT)
– The importance of Communication and radio procedures
– Delivering the medical support needed at major incidents through triage, treatment and transport
This course is delivered by Emergency Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics who all have extensive pre-hospital clinical experience including planning and managing major events and incidents.

The MIMMS course is appropriate for medical personnel who may require understanding and knowledge around the management of a major incident.
