Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support
The 10th UK edition of the NAEMT Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) course is recognised internationally as the leading program for pre-hospital emergency trauma care. It is designed to improve and promote the importance of critical thinking and excellent trauma care in decreasing mortality in multisystem trauma patients.
The 2-day course is delivered face-to-face combining interactive group lectures, skills stations and coaching and patient simulations.
Course Content
The PHTLS course develops knowledge and skills relating to:
– Physiology of Life and Death
– Scene Assessment
– Patient Assessment
– Airway Management
– Breathing, Ventilation and Oxygenation
– Circulation, Haemorrhage Control and Shock
– Head Injuries
– Special Circumstances such as burns, pregnancy and extremes of age
– Secondary Survey
This course is delivered by a multi-disciplinary faculty working in clinical roles at specialist and advanced levels across multiple settings.
Eligibility
The PHTLS course is appropriate for ECAs/ ECSWs, EMTs, Paramedics, Nurses, ACPs, Doctors and other prehospital providers.
