Course Description

The Resuscitation Council (UK) Paediatric Immediate Life Support (pILS) has been running since 2007 and was designed to teach first responders how to care for seriously ill children or children experiencing cardiac arrest until a specialist cardiac team can arrive. This course builds on the foundations of basic life support and provides greater depth on how to manage a situation involving seriously ill children.

The course includes an emphasis on key physiological differences compared to adults.

Course Content

This course consists of half a day of e-learning, followed by half a day of practical training. We recommend a minimum of two weeks preparation – it is not advised to book with shorter notice than this.

This course is delivered exclusively by Paediatricians, Emergency Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics with experience in managing children in cardiac arrest or experiencing serious illness.

This course is suitable for doctors, medical students (final year), nurses, health visitors, school nurses, nursing students (final year), midwives, ODPs, cardiac technicians, resuscitation officers, physiotherapists, dentists, dental nurses, and ambulance technicians/paramedics.
