Course Description

The RC(UK) Immediate Life Support Instructor (ILSi) course is a specialist Instructor course that allows candidates to become instructors in Immediate Life Support (ILS) and Paediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS).

This 1-day face-to-face course consists of lectures, skill stations and simulation teaching sessions where candidates will learn what is needed to deliver ILS and PILS courses, learning and practising key skills and facilitating teaching simulations.

Course Content

The ILSi course develops knowledge and skills relating to:

  • Understanding the nature of teaching and learning
  • Understanding the needs of individual learners
  • Understanding the awareness of the four domains of learning
  • Undertake the various types of teaching sessions on the provider’s courses

This course is delivered by Emergency Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics who all have extensive pre-hospital clinical experience.

Eligibility

The ILSi course is only open to those candidates who have been identified as having Instructor Potential (IP) by the RC(UK) following successful completion of one of the relevant ILS courses.

ILSi must be taken within one year of the date of the provider course

Candidates must then teach on two provider courses as an Instructor Candidate (IC) to successfully complete the qualification.
