Generic Instructor Course (GIC) Course Description
The Generic Instructor Course (GIC) is a collaboration between RC(UK) and ALSG and trains potential instructors in the principles of adult learning, developing the skills necessary to train other Healthcare Professionals in a range of courses including ALS, APLS, EPALS and MIMMS.
This course blends 1-day of e-learning, completed at your own pace prior to the course, followed by 2-days of face-to-face practical learning.
Course Content
The GIC develops knowledge and skills relating to:
– Learning and Facilitating Lectures
– Skills Teaching
– Simulation Teaching
– Assessment
This course is delivered by GIC Instructors who have extensive experience teaching and regularly deliver related courses (ALS, APLS, EPALS and MIMMS).
Eligibility
The GIC course is only open to those candidates who have been identified as having Instructor Potential (IP) by the RC(UK) or ALSG following successful completion on provider courses.
Candidates must then teach on two provider courses as an Instructor Candidate (IC) within two years of completion of the GIC course, to successfully complete the qualification.
