ECG Recognition Course Description

The ECG remains one of the most useful initial investigations and whilst acquisition is easy, interpretation requires skill and understanding.

The Enhanced Care Services ECG Recognition Course aims to improve capability and confidence in relation to ECG interpretation.

This 1-day course is designed to consolidate knowledge around heart anatomy and physiology, as well as providing a standardised and robust method to ECG interpretation, and clinical grounding to ensure clinicians take away practical understanding.

Course Content

The ECG Recognition Course develops knowledge and skills relating to:

– Heart Anatomy and Function

– Methodical approach to interpreting an ECG

– ECG variants, including paediatric and age related changes

– Disease Processes and how these are reflected on the ECG

– Common Arrhythmias

– Life-threatening syndromes such as Brugada, WPW and Wellen’s

This course is delivered by Emergency and Critical Care Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics who all have extensive pre-hospital clinical experience.

Eligibility

The ECG Recognition course is specifically designed for those interpreting emergent ECGs, such as Paramedics, Ambulance Technicians/ EMTs/ AAPs, Nurses in the acute setting and Junior Doctors.
