ALSG Advanced Paediatric Life Support Course Description

The ALSG Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) course is focused around the knowledge and skills necessary for recognition, effective treatment and stabilisation of the seriously ill or injured child using a structured, sequential approach, with emphasis on key physiological differences compared to adults.

This course blends 1-day of e-learning, completed at your own pace prior to the course, followed by 2-days of face-to-face practical learning, providing increased flexibility and reducing the need for time away from work.

Course Content

The APLS course develops knowledge and skills relating to:

– Assessing and Managing the acutely ill or injured child

– Managing a Paediatric Cardiac Arrest

– Advanced Airway Management

– Intraosseous Access

– Stabilisation of the injured child, including chest procedures

This course is delivered exclusively by Paediatricians, Emergency Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics experienced in managing the acutely unwell or injured child.

Eligibility

The APLS course is ideal for any Practitioner who routinely deals with the acutely unwell or injured child. It is suitable for Doctors who work in Paediatrics/Emergency Departments/Anaesthetics/Critical Care as well as senior Nurses, Paramedics and Clinical Practitioners.
